Family Support Groups
Children's Art Therapy Group
This support group provides a safe space for children to identify and express their emotions, thoughts and questions related to cancer. The program is available to children who have a family member with cancer, who have recently lost a family member to cancer or have cancer themselves. Children participate in an art therapy project lead by a licensed clinician. Appropriate for children ages 6-12. Groups meets once a week for six weeks. The next offering will be Winter/Spring 2019. Parent Networking Group
This emotional support group offers a space for parents to share and discuss the challenges they face when cancer is in the family. The goal is to normalize the struggles of cancer and provide emotional support. This group is facilitated by a licensed clinician. Appropriate for any parent with children under the age of 18 and currently dealing with cancer in the family. This groups meets once a week for six weeks. The next group offering will be Winter/Spring 2019. Group meets at same time as children's art group. Cancer Pathways hosts fun family social events throughout the year, including a Halloween Carnival, Holiday event, and Spring Carnival open to the general public.
Camp Sparkle is is free, week long day camp for children ages 6-12 who have a loved one with cancer or have cancer themselves. Our mission is to ensure no family has to face cancer alone. Camp is offered in four locations- Seattle, Tacoma, Everett and Bellevue. At Camp, kids experience music, art, crafts, games, exercise, theater, therapy dogs, field trips and much more! Social Worker Consultations
Our Family Social Worker, Maddie Ritter, is available for emotional support and need assessments for families impacted by cancer. Have questions about how to tell your kids about a new diagnosis? Or ways to support your family through cancer? She is available by phone or in-person for help with specific issues, ideas for improved family communication, supportive listening, advice on hard conversations, recommendations for additional support services and more.
