This was our 16th year hosting the Bryce Fisher Golf Tournament, a signature fundraising event for our programs. We spent a beautiful Friday at The Golf Club at Newcastle surrounded by good food and good people, with a special visit from our Camp Sparkle campers.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we raised over $100,000 to support our programs ensuring that nobody in our community has to face cancer alone. Here’s our staff’s favorite moments from the day.
Maureen – Events Team:
Volunteers mentioned the “fun energy” of the foursomes coming up to each hole. I know we felt it at the Cancer Pathways hole – there was a celebratory feeling as they drove up and I could tell people were interested in learning more about Cancer Pathways.
Paige – Staff Volunteer:
My daughter and I volunteered at the tournament and we had a great time! We were handing out ice cream and while the golfers were happy to have something cold to eat, all of them went out of their way to thank us for volunteering and supporting the mission of Cancer Pathways.
Shayla – Events Team:
I had so much fun experiencing our golf tournament for the first time. I got to witness the behind-the-scenes with the events team over the course of many months, and seeing everything come together was so amazing and a testament to them and how hard they worked to make this happen. Everyone who showed up had a good time and learned a lot about who we are and what we do, and that was so cool to witness.
I loved getting to hang out and golf with our Camp Sparkle kids and counselors again, they were the stars of the show!
Emily – Events Team:
I thought golf was a huge success. I kept hearing from the golfers how much they were having and how well we were keeping them entertained. My favorite part of the event was in the early morning, watching all the golfers greet each other and observing the great community that came to participate.
Amy – Camp Sparkle Team:
I am so grateful to all our sponsors, participants, and vendors for making our Bryce Fisher Golf Tournament such a success! My favorite part of the day had to be seeing our Camp Sparkle kids learn how to play golf with our friends at First Tee Seattle. Watching them light up and experience a new sport for the first time was such a joy!
Anna – Executive Director/Events Team:
Many, many thanks to all the staff. The golf tournament was a major success because we all worked together, pitched in and got it done. It is a beautiful sight to see a team come together and work so well together. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the team.
This is one hard working staff and it shows in what we produce in all areas. All our events and programs are first class. So proud of everyone. And do we have the greatest volunteers or what? And the greatest supporters.
If you enjoyed the day and would like to get more involved, or even if you didn’t attend and want to get involved, Cancer Pathways will be at the Reuben’s Brews taproom on Tuesday, July 25th with comedian Brad Upton. Our celebration of survivorship, the 26th Annual Surviving with Style Fashion Show & Gala, will take place at The Westin Seattle on October 21st.
