MEET PAUL OKERLUND

Host of the 2018 Cancer Pathways Golf Classic

Twenty-one years ago Brian Jaffe asked if I wanted to help out with the renovation project of a new nonprofit in the Seattle area. I said “you bet!” and two decades later I’m still involved, I guess Anna thought I had some value beyond the renovation of the clubhouse!

Anna is a passionate leader which leads to a passionate staff and I have seen the board develop over my time here to share that deep passion for helping those who are overwhelmed by a cancer diagnosis. Over my time with Cancer Pathways, the organization has continued to get better in every facet, which has translated to us helping more people, guiding them along the path cancer takes them though and providing services built around supporting people through those difficult emotions.

As part of the Cancer Pathways board, I like to pay attention to what’s going on at the core of the organization and make sure we are keeping on track. I like that Anna is always looking for what’s the next thing that needs to happen and making those things fall into place. I couldn’t possibly choose a favorite program that Cancer Pathways’ offers as they are each so unique and brings impact to those who need it most.

Over the next 5-10 years, I hope Cancer Pathways continues to sustain the amazing work they are doing while also bringing in more funds to expand on that great work. I would encourage anyone who has been impacted to talk with Cancer Pathways.
